MARINE PROTECTIVE SOLUTIONS
THE CERASHIELD WAY
At CeraShield, we pride ourselves on our professional approach to applying and removing ceramic yacht coatings, ensuring every step is executed well by our team. Our commitment to excellence and accountability in the superyacht industry guarantees that your vessel receives the highest standard of care and protection. By choosing CeraShield, you benefit from our industry-leading expertise, certified processes, and dedication to maintaining the protection and longevity of your paint.
GLOSS READINGS
Gloss units (GU) are measured on a scale of 0-100. 85GU or above is the acceptance criteria for new paint. Our technicians work to this specification to attain a uniform finish parallel to new paint. Once the maximum gloss restoration has been achieved, we seal it with one of our range of coatings. These GU readings are documented on the GA plan of the yacht with both before GU readings and after polish GU readings.
As part of ClearShield’s warranty, we return to our clients, as regularly as possible, to ensure the coating is performing and the gloss remains high. We offer to perform gloss readings onboard every 6/12 months, so we have a complete history of the vessel’s gloss levels, and we monitor the gloss units and changes.
ICOMIA STANDARDS
The International Council of Marine Industry Associations, ICOMIA, is a not-for-profit membership organisation that brings together a wide range of national marine industry associations into one global organisation and represents them at an international level, presenting a strong and united voice when dealing with issues challenging the industry.
ICOMIA has been an active advocate for the international marine industry since 1966, working with authorities, regulatory bodies and related organisations to facilitate and encourage the growth of the worldwide recreational marine industry whilst keeping on top of policies and guidance to ensure the promotion, protection and growth of the industryRecognising the evolving needs of the superyacht market, ICOMIA has developed the Ceramic Coating Treatment: Yacht Industry Guideline. Claire Steel, ClearShield’s Managing Director, in 2020 was part of a team of experts who discussed, debated and then wrote this comprehensive guideline. It provides essential information and considerations for using ceramic coatings or treatments on large yachts, setting a high standard for quality and performance in the industry.
