CSSB

A Collaboration Of Partners Driving The Future Of A Greener Sustainable Industry

THE CENTER FOR SUSTAINABLE SHIPBUILDING (CSSB)

Green Shipbuilding Technologies

The CSSB will focus on integrating advanced technologies such as electric propulsion systems, hydrogen fuel cells, and wind-assist solutions to build vessels with dramatically reduced carbon emissions.

Circular Economy & Sustainable Materials

The center will promote the use of recyclable composites, responsibly sourced metals, and biodegradable materials, emphasizing lifecycle efficiency and reduced waste in marine manufacturing.

Renewable Energy Integration

By incorporating solar arrays, wind capture systems, and green hydrogen-based power, CSSB aims to develop energy-autonomous vessels, contributing to the broader decarbonization of maritime transport.

Smart Shipbuilding & Digitalization

The CSSB will adopt AI-led design tools, 3D-printed components, and digital twin modeling to boost production efficiency, minimize resource use, and enhance vessel performance in real-time.

Maritime Decarbonization Leadership

As part of the UAE’s commitment to net zero, CSSB will pioneer research in low-carbon fuels, ammonia propulsion, and clean battery technologies, aligning with IMO 2050 emission goals and beyond.

Strategic Location & Global Collaboration

Located in Abu Dhabi’s premier industrial maritime zone, CSSB offers direct access to world-class shipyards, ports, and logistics networks. It aims to establish strategic alliances with global shipbuilders, maritime tech firms, and academic institutions, building a powerhouse for sustainable innovation in ship construction.
